There are many actuaries who work in different sectors called as non traditional. In South Africa, may actuaries are working in Banking and Investment. It is the experience and knowledge they bring from their previous jobs and apply it to different sectors.

Yes i know few people who have started working in department such as ERM & Product designing of Insurance Companies (so it is something different from the traditional role).

Also in the below link it mentions about what role do actuaries can play in Banking sector. Hope it helps!!
