So if they ask me why employee benefit department, what should I say?

Why EB? I believe you should exactly come out with the reality. Or to chimp it up really, you can just go on like ‘as most people say growth is less in EB but I think that we can do something very different and want to be an integral part of a team which is heading there.’ Just make sure that you know about EB in case you chose to go with the second one!
