R and python are indeed two very important softwares for an actuary. They will take you a long way. However, when you go for an interview, they don’t really see your certificates, they rather test how much knowledge you actually have. Whlie a Microsoft certification will have a weight of its own, its not really necessary and won’t help if you don’t know the stuff very nicely.
