        So you are ready!

You have cleared papers, learn some softwares, cracked a interview. And you are ready for your first Actuarial job.

But wait a sec. Is your first job really Actuarial?

Is it really requires you to use your Actuarial concepts.

Sorry to dishearten you, but the answer is NO.

Yes, most first jobs are not Actuarial based(though it would say Actuarial) where you are expected to apply your Actuarial skills, Actuarial formulas, Actuarial softwares, etc.

Its more kind of data analysis job. Where you are given some kind of data and you are required to analyse it, sort it, build reports, filter data, etc.

And its obvious, Actuaries work on huge amount of data, so first you need to fully understand what is the data, its meaning and just getting familiar with data… Then only you can apply your Actuarial brain for further analysis.

Plus different companies use different terms, different principles, different assumptions, different processes, etc. So you need to understand what all these are before using Actuarial skills. And that’s what your first job teaches you.

And chill, though it might sound boring, the work will be damm interesting !!

        Hope it helps :)
