Hello everyone,
This is to seek some help regarding the decision made by IFoA for CM and CS papers in this April attempt.
Do you think that the decision made by IFoA is justifiable on any grounds?
From the past 3 months I’ve been studying for my exam which is now not happening.
It should have been the student’s choice to choose whether to appear for the exam or not because we are the ones who are giving our time, efforts, money, attending classes and everything to get through this. This would have given justice to every Actuarial student out there by saving their 6 months. Some might think it’s best for them but what about the hardwork and hardcore studies that we have invested in studying these papers and the mental pressure that we have been through from at least the past 3 months?
I think they should come up with some other solution regarding the CM and CS papers too just as they have converted CB1 and CB2 papers online.
They can still help the ones who are willing to give the exams even after this pandemic because it’s also important for our career.
Just refunding the money isn’t the solution to this problem.
IFoA should rethink about the decision made by it regarding the CM and CS papers and justice should be made to every actuarial student out there.
Thank you!

Hi Preeti,
Please understand the situations as follows:
Cancelling all the exams: Loss to all the students with those who have prepared and loss for IFoA.
Keeping all the exams: The exams cancelled use pratical handwritten skills wjich can be solved on paper only. If scan option is explored for them, do you think that is fine?
Refunding: The students who don’t want to take in this diet due to any reason can take refund for all the exams.
It is all upon the personal situation and IFoA cannot keep everyone’s choice with over 60k members around the world. I think whatever they have done is best for the students.
Talking about justice, if you want this many people to come at a single point, democracy should be adopted. But that would bring blunders to the ethical community.
If the exams which are cancelled happens, some guys will be first one to point fingers at ifoa that this didn’t work because the exams are of practical nature and they should have atleast cancelled these exams.
And lately, have you seen the situation around the world?
